Location
The Silo is a very unique experience, and we invite you to experience it! The Silo is exactly that – a guest room built inside a grain bin. It has all the traditional furnishings of a hotel room – a great bed, table with chairs, refrigerator, and microwave – but it does not have television, running water, or an indoor bathroom. It does have electricity, wi-fi, propane heat, dishes and silverware, an outdoor restroom facility (a toilet and solar shower built in a large culvert), and spectacular views.
We provide basic kitchen supplies, a picnic table, BBQ with side burner, fresh water, bedding, linens, coffee, and board games, but the environment provides the best experience. If you are lucky, you’ll get to listen to the rain on the tin roof or the coyotes singing on the hills. Some days, our horses roam the property, and every day, our dogs will stop to say hello. In the fall, you'll also hear the elk bugle. But be warned, the wind might wake you with its own loud midnight lullaby. In the morning, watch for deer crossing on the hillside, or step across the drive to view the elk and buffalo on the neighbor’s game ranch.
We get LTD cell service with T-Mobile from The Silo. The wifi is being extended from the house, so it's strong enough to check your email but not capable of streaming movies or video chatting.
Rates
Range from $70 - $90 per night for two guests. Extra guests are not permitted.
The basic cleaning fee is included in your rate. If excessive cleaning time is needed for a dirty kitchen, excessive laundry, trash thrown outside, etc., $50 per hour will be charged.

Things to Know
The Silo is located about 7 miles south of Collbran, Colorado off a bumpy (and sometimes muddy or snowy) gravel road. You'll park on the side road beside The Silo. The Grand Mesa is a 15-minute drive from our house.
Our home is a short walk from The Silo, and our driveway is nearby. If you need anything, it’s easy enough to find us, and we’re happy to help. However, please expect some activity and noise as we go about our day, and we will do our very best to respect your peace and privacy.
Most Collbran businesses close by 8 pm, so if you arrive late, please bring necessary food and supplies with you.
During the summer, you can access The Silo in a 2-wheel drive car. However, we recommend driving a vehicle with 4-wheel drive in late fall to early spring. If you aren't sure, please ask us about the current conditions of the road.
If you are a light sleeper, prefer the luxury of running water, don't love wild or domestic animals (including their smells), or would like a bit more privacy, this may not be the right experience for you. If you've never slept in a silo and enjoy adventure and beautiful views, this guest room is perfect!
